Nowadays we are more aware of the environmental impact of the things we do and choices we make everyday. That is why the environmental movement is becoming a mainstream and is largely a part of our present society and commerce. Many companies across the globe are also doing their share of the awareness by minimizing the harmful environmental footprint they produce that affects our planet’s fragile ecosystems. Therefore, they decidedly made this consciousness a part of their manufacturing methods of the good and materials they supply to their consumers. This effort is demonstrated as a very important element of their business plans because it positively increases profit margin and brand value that may in turn help decrease production costs.

Sustainable screen printing has helped produce eco-friendly t-shirts and other apparels for people and companies who are concerned about the risks of using non-natural and nonbiodegradable materials for their products. The sustainable screen printing method is only one of the environmentally conscious production decisions any company can make use of, in fact there are thousands of better alternatives to choose from in any lifestyle choice we make.

Consumers are now intelligently demanding that companies make better efforts to produce sustainable commodities and if a product comes out satisfying, consumers know very well to reward those that have done it right. That is why more and more screen printing companies are making changes in their production methods and employing more environmentally responsible manufacturing processes such as sustainable screen printing that uses safer water-based inks. A large number of companies worldwide have been heavily criticized for their unsafe products and environmentally hazardous practices that continue to pollute our surroundings and contribute to the unwanted global warming conditions.

Being sustainable means being able to provide for the needs of the people without destructing the environment so that we can still help future generations provide for themselves. Thus, sustainable screen printing does its share of the cause by being more careful with the materials and methods used for its productions. Pro-environment printers using the sustainable screen printing method always consider concerns like how sustainable these methods are during its production, how post production wastes are managed, and the length of time a material is replaced naturally when taken out from the Earth. Therefore, green printers using the sustainable screen-printing method do not only try to make responsible ecological decisions but are in the process learning that doing a positive thing like this will help their businesses become more successful and profitable.

Water-based inks are not the only sustainable materials used for the printing process. Fabrics and other materials used for the production must be sustainable as well because using non-natural and nonbiodegradable materials will only affect the effectiveness of producing an otherwise sustainable commodity. Fabrics must be made by organic materials such as organic cotton bamboo and hemp. In the same way, post-production waste must never be thrown down the drain in any circumstance and must be disposed off in its proper disposal areas. Otherwise, doing so will only cancel out the primary purpose of producing a sustainable product, which is to help save our natural environment.
